WordPress ‘Share and Learn’ events were started towards the end of 2014. We have a range of attendees at our meetings, from beginners to those using WordPress to make a living. Some people come and go as they check out what we are about or fulfil a need to answer a specific problem, but there is definitely a core group of regulars.
The initial idea of the group was not so much to present a topic at each meeting, but rather to bring people together who want to use WordPress and learn more or share their knowledge.
The group meet every second Wednesday at the Victoria Computer Club from 7-9pm. This is a great central location and the clubhouse offers a perfect setting with a PC Lab. In fact, the very name of the computer club made it easy to come up with a domain name for our group; following on in the same vane the Victoria WP Club was born.
You’ll see some adverts on our site promoting local WordPress developers/designers. The reason for this is simply to cover the costs we incur for our domain name, our hosting, purchased themes and plugins, and any other sundries, and in the process help our fellow WordPressers with their businesses. The cost for the use of the clubhouse comes from the $5 entry fee for each meeting and anything collected above this goes to help the Victoria Computer Club, which is a society helping the local community (and mainly helps seniors with technology issues).
