Managing Multiple WordPress Sites

If you have multiple WordPress sites you know how time consuming it can be to log in, run backups, WP core, theme and plugin updates for each site. We will look at a few tools to managing multiple WordPress sites quickly and efficiently. After sharing what I learned at recent WordCamps, those that want to try it can stay and we will get your setup so you will spend less time maintaining your multiple sites.

This informal meetup is for beginners/intermediate WordPress enthusiasts. Please bring your laptop.

There will be coffee and snacks for sale at the Forum, please consider purchasing something and bring it into the meeting to support them and also thank them for sponsoring the Meetup! I will bring a donation box as well so there is that opportunity too 🙂

See you there!

WordPress: Share & Learn Session (every month)

WordPress Designers / Developers:

We all gain more by sharing ideas and bouncing problems around with others. This meet-up aims to help WordPress users by bringing them together on a regular basis and allow everyone to participate and help each other.

This is a hands-on event. There won’t be a formal topic unless someone offers to present, in which case this will be posted ahead of time. So bring your expertise, your technical issues, any suggestions or queries and let’s all help each other to grow the WordPress community in Victoria.

You’ll make great connections with others in the same field, find collaborators for projects, and hopefully have fun at the same time.

The event will be hosted at the Victoria Computer Club. It’s centrally located, on a major bus route (21, 22 & 26) and parking is easy. The Clubhouse has a well organized computer lab with 9 PC’s running Windows, room for laptops too, and a teacher desk with a mounted projector hooked up. There is a kitchen offering beverages, and sometimes baked goodies.

Prerequisite: Must be an administrator on a self hosted WordPress site.

Limited to 15 people to keep it comfortable in the space – so register early!

Cost is $5 per person to cover the computer lab rental.

The Victoria Computer Club is located on the ground floor of a white apartment building on Burnside (opposite the Medical Clinic at the cross section with Wascana St).

WordPress: Share & Learn – Beginners and Authors/Writers

WordPress Designers / Developers:

This month we’ll be focusing on beginner and advanced/beginner WordPress users in our group. Also, we’ve been asked to cover some topics relevant to authors and writers in our group who’d like to sell their work (we’re talking PayPal buttons and not shopping carts- that’s a more advanced topic and not for this session).

The evening will be a mix of presenting ideas/topics versus questions – although it can be changed to suit our audience.

Visit our website for further details about our group Victoria WP Club.

WordPress: Share & Learn – Hands On Session

WordPress Designers / Developers:

No presentation this week. We will be helping each other out on their WordPress issues – seeing as we did not have time at the last session to get to anyone’s specific needs. George has also kindly offered to talk about password managers. If you want more info on what his presentation touches on then go to this link (although it obviously won’t be in this much depth). http://victoriacomputerclub.org/beyond-password-managers/

If there aren’t enough problems to discuss (as if), then we can always look at the WordPress club site for improvements and problems.

WordPress: Share & Learn – New Club Website and Video

WordPress Designers / Developers:

This week we’ll be looking at the new Victoria WordPress Club website (it’s not live to the public yet – but it will be by our meeting). We’ll take a look at what we are hoping to achieve with the WordPress community in Victoria, and I’ll explain a bit about the site creation and we can open up the discussion for what we’d all like to see added to the site over time. Also, we’ll spend a little time on how to add video to your website (with some background info as well). The rest of the time is open for your questions and general discussions around any WordPress issues.
